Caring For Your Items
Wash on delicate cycle with similar colors; machine wash warm (30 degrees C or 86 degrees F); no bleach, no tumble dry; no ironing; do not use fabric softeners.
- Before Initial Use: Pour warm water, pinch of salt and a couple of slices of lemon and a tablespoon of vinegar. Close lid and shake. Let sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse out with warm water. Dry with clean cloth. *Never allow copper water bottle to air dry. It can result in water stains or tarnish from the reaction to the minerals in the water.
- After Each Use: Rinse with warm water and soap to prevent any potential buildup of copper ions. Avoid scratchy cleaners like steel wool.
- If you notice tarnishing (copper products tarnish from time to time. This is normal for authentic copper products): Clean your copper water bottle as soon as you notice any tarnish with lemon and salt.
- Do not place in freezer or store boiling water: Copper is a malleable and tensile material; the bottles should not be placed in a freezer or refrigerated for long periods of time, i.e. overnight. Storing lukewarm water is safe but avoid storing boiling water to avoid over-leaching/over-absorption of copper and for safety reasons (copper is a highly conductive metal and quickly transfers heat. The bottle will become hot very quickly if you store boiling water.)
- Drinking out of copper water bottles has health benefits but consuming too much can be harmful. Limit the storage time of water in copper containers to a few hours and drink out of a copper water bottle once or twice a day.
- NEVER add heated water or lemon for consumption from copper water bottles as it reacts with copper.
- While generally safe, certain electrolytes, especially those high in acidity like lemon juice, could react with the copper, causing a slight metallic taste or a greenish tint on the bottle's inner surface. If you are sensitive to copper, avoid putting electrolytes in your copper water bottle.
- Refrain from storing beverages such as citrus juices, carbonated drinks or acidic foods in copper water bottles.
- Some people are more sensitive to copper than others. If you experience nausea or stomach upset. reduce your intake or consult a healthcare professional.
- Like many things, balance is key.
